Oh no! First rumors about a GT-R sedan, and now a Cabrio version? First one most likely will never happen, but a Cabrio version, that's really possible. But better not! It looks great as it is now, no need for something else, don't you agree? But we can all take comfort in knowing that this is just a photoshop, and Nissan is very busy building the coupe version to satisfy the demand. They don't have time for anything else, hopefully. photo credit to Trung Nguyen (...)
This is the first time the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has tested the side impact protection of small pickups. Unfortunately many of the results were dismal. Watch in horror as not only do the trucks get smashed, but so does your resale value. The only truck to receive the IIHS highest rating of good in side test for occupant protection was the Toyota Tacoma. The Dodge Dakota, Mitsubishi Raider, Ford Ranger, Mazda B Series, and Nissan Frontier all rated marginal. The (...)
Recently launched, the Volkswagen Passat CC received its first customization programme from the German tuning house Abt. Due to the fact that the body kit is currently under development, the car received only engine modifications as it follows: the 1.6 TSI engine develops now 200 hp, with 40 hp more than the standard version while the 2.0 liter TSI found also on the Vw Golf V GTI brings 240 hp. We can't wait to see what will the 3.6 liter FSI engine will bring. New alloy wheels were added in (...)
A mid-engined sports car for the price of an everyday sedan? It's the kind of thing that would make middle managers everywhere try to trade in the company car. These tempters from Volkswagen come in both coupe and roadster version and priced between 25,000 to 35,000 euros. The only one that will have something to object about it (besides the company accountant) might be Porsche. After all, a mid-engine sports car at half of Porsche's price would give it a reason to not be happy. (...)

Rolls-Royce is putting on a play. While that usually is not news, it is when the play is “Toad of Toad Hall” taken from the book The Wind and the Willows. This tells the story of a human-like toad whose downfall is rooted in owing a succession of expensive and powerful automobiles. Does this remind you of anyone's customer base? Rolls is allowing the Chichester Festival Youth Theatre to perform the play at their factory grounds in Goodwood, England. From August 4th to 16th, a cast of over (...)
Ariel Atom is driving in its purest form. It's the kind of wind-in-your-hair, knuckles-dragging-on-the-ground race car for the streets that makes you thank God the wheel was invented. It's as light as a feather and even has a version with a 500 hp V-8. As their motto says, "No doors, no roof, no compromise!" Well, make that one compromise: the Atom now has a windshield option. So now you won't need a helmet for high-speed fun, but with a windshield in place, will some of sensation be (...)
The HEVT(Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technologies, Inc.) brings some important improvements to the famous pickup F-150 especially in regards to fuel savings and still using the Ford chassis. This truck serves as a model for pickups, SUVs and vans using the efficient technology of reducing fuels, gas and emissions. In the case of the Ford F150 the results of HEVT are quite surprising, pushing it from 16mpg(14.7l/100km) during a daily driving to just 41mpg(5.7l/100km). The brain of this (...)
Subaru shot this video on the Willow Springs race track with drivers Travis Pastrana and Ken Block. You'll have the chance to see both Impreza WRX sedan and the new STI in action. Enjoy! .
BMW is already working on the next generation Z4, and we can now confirm you that the launch is near by. Why? Simple: because the Spartanburg, South Carolina facility that makes the current Z4 will stop producing them next month. The future Z4 is codenamed E89, will have the same size as the current Z4, but will probably wear a less controversial design with a wider track and more dynamic proportions. The highlight of the new model is its high-tech structure—a combination of aluminum space (...)

Hardy Brothers Jewellers, makers of the Melbourne Cup and the only Australian company to hold the Royal Warrant, have been commissioned by V8 Supercars Australia to produce the Peter Brock Trophy.
The trophy was completed on the 3rd of October 2006 after over 200 hours of work in just three weeks. The trophy will be presented on Sunday afternoon to the winner of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 by Peter's brother Phillip.
The trophy has "King of the Mountain" inscribed on it as a fitting tribute to the late Peter Brock.
With the massive success of Nissan's Silvia range, compliance for the Nissan S15 Silvia Autech version is available now with all 1999 to August 2000 models eligible for import - the normal import requirements apply so you can still only purchase cars that are free from previous accident history and major modifications.
Autech (an aftermarket tuning company connected with Nissan) took the Nissan Silvia Spec-S (non turbo) and performed a number of modifications to increase flow and volumetric efficiency of the SR20DE engine. The result is an impressive 147kW which, remarkably, is the same power output as turbo charged local Australian delivered S15 200SX! Although torque is less than the turbo version, the closer ratio gearbox and the Autech version being around 60kg lighter make for very similar performance between the Autech non turbo and Australian delivered turbo 200SX.
The advantage with the Autech is better fuel economy for regular driving, in some cases cheaper insurance, and the Autech version is legal for P-platers in all states being naturally aspirated and just scraping in under the 125kW/ton limit enforced in some states. The Autech version is also typically slightly cheaper than a turbo Spec-R in Japan for similar condition and mileage vehicles.
Autech tuning modifications compared with regular Spec-S include: - Raised compression ratio to 11.7:1 (versus 10:1 for Spec-S and 8.5:1 for turbo Spec-R) - Stainless steel 4 into 1 exhaust manifold - Altered cam profiles - Tweaked NVCS variable timing - Retuned ECU - Sodium filled valves - Lightweight flywheel and clutch - Closer ratio 6 speed manual transmission - Helical LSD with 4.083 final drive - 4 piston front brake calipers - More rigid chassis due to additional chassis bracing
Autech versions have a red engine cover however this is not indicative of the 'red top' engine of earlier SR20 variants, it is closer to the better 'black top' spec SR20. Autech tuned S15's were available in pearl white, blue and silver paint only.
Typical prices for an Autech version Silvia (they were only available in 6 speed manual) are around $19,000 - $30,000 landed and complied for good condition vehicles
Stay tuned for our Adelaide Motorshow Coverage/Pics later today courtesy of Jen/Justin! The Evo was ugly. Ugh. Long live the IX. The 35GTR on the other hand was awesome!
